Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK) has called in fintech peer-to-peer lender PT Kredit Utama Fintech Indonesia (Rupiah Cepat) following media and social media reports that some consumers received funds from the app without submitting a loan application. The action forms part of OJK’s consumer protection supervision of the online lending sector. OJK has received public complaints on the issue, summoned Rupiah Cepat for clarification, and instructed the firm to conduct a further investigation into the alleged violations and report the results to OJK. It also required Rupiah Cepat to respond to consumer complaints in line with applicable rules, while urging the public to be cautious with loan offers, protect device passwords and one-time passwords (OTP), and report suspected breaches via OJK’s consumer complaint channels, including the Consumer Protection Portal (APPK).
