The Bank of Greece published provisional balance of travel services data showing a surplus of EUR 419.9 million in November 2024, up from EUR 229.9 million a year earlier, driven by a sharp increase in travel receipts. For January to November 2024, the travel services surplus reached EUR 18,768.2 million versus EUR 18,064.3 million in the same period of 2023. In November 2024, travel receipts rose 44.7% year on year to EUR 617.9 million, while travel payments increased 0.5% to EUR 198.0 million; the receipts increase reflected a 23.6% rise in inbound traveller flows and a 20.9% increase in average expenditure per trip. Over January to November 2024, receipts increased 4.9% to EUR 21,266.9 million as inbound traveller flows rose 9.7%, while average expenditure per trip fell 5.4%; travel payments grew 13.4% to EUR 2,498.7 million. Net travel receipts offset 13.0% of the goods deficit in November (57.8% in January to November) and accounted for 62.0% of total net receipts from services in November (84.2% in January to November); November saw no recorded receipts or travellers from Russia.
