The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) participated in the “Infrastructure Scenarios 2026” forum in São Paulo, where director Jessica Bastos spoke on the role of insurance in strengthening the financial resilience of infrastructure projects. In a panel on resilient finance and infrastructure risk management, Bastos argued that insurance contributes beyond claims payment by supporting ex-ante risk analysis during underwriting to identify exposures and encourage safer practices, and by enabling continuous risk monitoring during contract execution to improve predictability and reduce uncertainty. She also linked these effects to improvements in the contracting environment, easier access to credit and investment, and reduced financial vulnerabilities in the event of a loss. The panel also discussed innovative resilient finance instruments and models, territory- and user-centred risk management approaches, and diversity and governance as risk-mitigation factors.
