The Bank of Italy reported on the closing ceremony in Rome for the 2024–2025 edition of “Let’s invent a banknote”, a school prize promoted with Italy’s Ministry of Education and Merit that uses banknote design to support financial education. Deputy Director General Chiara Scotti attended the event and presented awards to the winning classes. The competition theme, “Achieving your dreams, investing in yourself: the economy at the service of young people”, was intended to prompt student reflection on social and financial education topics. The edition attracted 622 schools, including 12 Italian schools abroad. Regional juries hosted at the Bank of Italy’s branches in Trieste, Bergamo, Florence, Cagliari, Bari and Palermo selected 54 designs, with each regional finalist school receiving EUR 2,000 for educational activities; a Bank of Italy banknotes expert jury then shortlisted nine finalist classes, which presented to a final jury chaired by Massimo Doria. Three winners received EUR 10,000 each and the six non-winning finalists received EUR 2,500 each, with the top prizes awarded to Istituto Comprensivo III Briosco (Padua) for primary school, Istituto Comprensivo Bagnoli (San Pietro in Casale, Bologna) for lower secondary, and Liceo Scientifico Enrico Fermi (Aversa, Caserta) for upper secondary. Two additional awards were granted: the prize for Italian schools abroad went to Istituto Omnicomprensivo Paritario italiano Antonio Raimondi (Lima, Peru) with EUR 2,500, and the “Social” prize went to Centro Provinciale Istruzione per Adulti 4 di Legnano, Magenta campus, whose design will be used as the cover of the next call for the 2025/2026 school year.
