The South African Reserve Bank has published the shortlist of 15 finalists for the G20 TechSprint 2025, the innovation challenge run with the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) Innovation Hub, and set out the remaining build and judging process. The finalists were selected from more than 165 participating teams across more than 30 countries and jurisdictions. The competition focuses on three problem statements: privacy-preserving digital identity solutions to establish trust among financial institutions, credit data portability solutions to enable secure consumer-consented cross-border sharing of small and medium-sized enterprise credit information, and solutions to mitigate fraud and cyber risks to support wider adoption of fast payment systems. Shortlisted teams have until mid-October to complete their prototypes, which will be judged by an independent expert panel. Winners in each category are scheduled to be announced in November ahead of the G20 Summit in South Africa.
