The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia announced it will host an in-person Economic Mobility Summit on 22–23 April 2025 in Center City Philadelphia, convening community and business leaders to discuss economic mobility challenges and practical approaches to strengthening economic opportunity. The programme includes panels on applying research and data to practice, the business case for investing in career development resources, and strategies to help workers move up the career ladder. Speakers listed include Federal Reserve Vice Chair Philip N. Jefferson; Philadelphia Fed President Patrick T. Harker; Chicago Fed President Austan Goolsbee (virtual); Harvard economist Raj Chetty; Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle L. Parker; and leaders from the Urban Institute and United Way Worldwide. Breakout sessions will cover employer partnerships, quality job growth, apprenticeship innovation, and barriers to employment including childcare. The summit will conclude with a session on economic mobility in Philadelphia featuring The Pew Charitable Trusts’ Philadelphia 2025 “State of the City” findings, and is being hosted in partnership with the Federal Reserve Banks of Atlanta, Chicago, and St. Louis, as well as Pew, Philadelphia Foundation, and the Urban Institute.
