The Liechtenstein Financial Market Authority published an alert about an increasing number of phishing emails in which fraudsters pose as representatives of the “FMA Liechtenstein” or similar to obtain personal data. The messages may promise to refund lost money or transfer stolen funds, but the FMA emphasised it does not contact private individuals by email or telephone and is never involved in processes or offers that purport to make good financial losses. The authority noted that its official email addresses end with “@fma-li.li” and advised recipients to check sender addresses carefully, not reply, and not follow instructions or click any links in suspicious emails.
