The Bank of France announced an expanded joint programme with the IEDOM-IEOM and the National Agency for the Fight Against Illiteracy to support the National Days of Action Against Illiteracy running from 8 to 15 September 2025, using financial and budget education as a practical response to barriers created by illiteracy, innumeracy and digital exclusion. Under its role as operator of the national economic, budget and financial education strategy (EDUCFI), the Bank of France will run free workshops across metropolitan France and overseas territories, delivered by staff from its branch network, the IEDOM-IEOM and partner organisations. The sessions focus on day-to-day budgeting, payment methods and scam awareness, using adapted tools such as educational games, videos, podcasts, budgeting applications, signposting to support organisations and template letters, and also include sessions for social workers involved in illiteracy prevention. The update also highlights a national partnership agreement signed in November 2024 and introduces a new card game, “En parler, c’est avancer”, designed to help social practitioners discuss illiteracy and routes out of it. A closing event is scheduled for 30 September at the Bank of France’s Paris headquarters, combining an artistic performance, workshops and testimonials to promote the role of financial education in tackling illiteracy.
