The National Bank of Georgia has published the second issue of Monetary Economics, its scientific and analytical journal, as part of the 30th anniversary year of the lari’s introduction into circulation. The journal is positioned as an academic resource on monetary policy, the banking and financial sector, financial technologies and capital market development, and as a platform for dialogue including early-career researchers. The issue includes contributions from National Bank of Georgia staff and external authors, covering hyperinflation and the preconditions for introducing the lari, the role of foreign exchange interventions in a small open economy, interest rate formation in transition economies in the context of Georgia’s European aspirations, geopolitical fragmentation and the composition of international reserves, and corporate bond market liquidity and retail investor participation. The next issue is scheduled for release in December, and the editorial board is inviting submissions from external authors.
