In an opening keynote at the Nordic Financial Crime & Sanctions Forum, Rikke-Louise Petersen, Executive Board member of the Authority for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism, outlined how stronger risk analysis, financial intelligence and supervisory cooperation can support a more effective European AML/CFT framework. She positioned AMLA as complementing national expertise with an EU perspective to identify cross-border patterns and promote greater consistency across the Single Market. Petersen said risk analysis and intelligence from Financial Intelligence Units should reinforce each other. AMLA plans to conduct its first joint analysis exercise toward the end of 2026, while information-sharing partnerships under Article 75 of the Anti-Money Laundering Regulation will become possible from July 2027. Bringing AML/CFT supervision and FIU coordination within the same European authority should also allow the two functions to inform each other while remaining distinct.
