The Bank of Canada Museum announced Angela Larocque and Nicole Feisst as the 2025 recipients of its Award for Excellence in Teaching Economics, recognizing community-focused approaches that help students build practical financial skills. Larocque, a middle school teacher at Forest Hills School in St. John, New Brunswick, was recognized for community-based financial literacy initiatives including “Idea Market,” an entrepreneurship event, and “Money Matters,” a community financial literacy night involving local businesses, banks and financial experts. Feisst, a high school educator at École Clément-Cormier in Bouctouche, New Brunswick, developed a personalized financial simulation for grade 11 and 12 students, supported by real-time input from local professionals. Each winner receives a trophy, a CAD 1,000 personal cash prize and CAD 1,000 for their school. Nominations for the 2026 award will open in early 2026.
