Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK) published a press release on an Inspiring Talkshow in Rembang themed “Kartini Inspires: Independent in Spirit, Firm in Integrity”, positioning the commemoration of R.A. Kartini as a call to strengthen integrity and anti-fraud culture across stakeholders, including the financial services sector. The event featured remarks by OJK Audit Board Chair and Commissioner Sophia Wattimena on independence, critical thinking, and adherence to moral and ethical values, accountability, and responsibility. Wattimena highlighted the growing strategic role of women in governance in both the public sector and financial services, while noting persistent challenges including gender equality and gender-based violence, citing that women comprise around 57% of civil servants and that more than 1,000 gender-based violence cases were recorded in 2025 with around 80% of victims being women. In remarks delivered online, Minister for Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Rini Widyantini linked integrity and independence to public trust and referenced Ministerial Regulation No. 17 of 2024 on managing conflicts of interest, intended to help officials identify and openly report potential conflicts and keep decision-making aligned with the public interest. OJK pointed to initiatives including its “Proud Without Fraud” programme, implementation of the Anti-Bribery Management System (SMAP) and its certification across all work units, consistent controls on gratuities, and cooperation with the Corruption Eradication Commission to train certified anti-corruption counsellors, while encouraging women in the financial services environment to use the Whistleblowing System to report suspected ethical breaches and fraud.
