The alerts cover The Bank of East Asia, Limited, Shanghai Commercial Bank Limited and Chong Hing Bank Limited in relation to fraudulent websites and internet banking login screens; Fubon Bank (Hong Kong) Limited in relation to a fraudulent website and internet banking login screen; and Bank of Singapore Limited in relation to a fraudulent social media account. The HKMA reiterated that banks will not send SMS or emails with embedded hyperlinks directing customers to bank websites to carry out transactions, and will not ask for sensitive information such as login passwords or One-Time Password by phone, email or SMS (including via embedded hyperlinks). Anyone who has provided personal information or conducted financial transactions through or in response to the scams concerned should contact the relevant bank using the details in the corresponding press release and report the matter to the Hong Kong Police Force.
