The Central Bank of Montenegro published an update on a meeting between Governor Irena Radovic and Montenegro’s Minister of European Affairs, Maida Gorcevic, focused on EU accession negotiations and preparations for European integration. The two sides agreed to expedite adoption of the regulations needed for citizens and the economy to benefit from Montenegro’s membership of the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) as soon as possible. Governor Radovic highlighted ongoing work to align domestic legislation with the acquis communautaire and strengthen institutional capacity to meet requirements for joining the European System of Central Banks, alongside progress in payment system modernisation, including Montenegro’s recent accession to SEPA. Minister Gorcevic outlined the government’s agenda for closing negotiation chapters and accelerating the EU path, and both parties pointed to government–central bank cooperation as supporting Montenegro’s EU membership objective.
