The Thailand Securities and Exchange Commission participated in the IOSCO Asia-Pacific Regional Committee meeting, the EU-Asia Pacific Forum on Financial Regulation and the State Securities Commission of Vietnam’s symposium in Quang Nam, where regulators and private-sector representatives exchanged views on capital market supervision and development and underscored the need to deepen cross-border cooperation. In the IOSCO APRC discussions, the SEC shared supervisory perspectives on emerging challenges including online harms, with participants agreeing to further strengthen communications and collaboration with relevant parties such as online platform service providers given their use as channels for fraud and scams. The sessions also covered technology use in supervision and enforcement, and sustainable finance initiatives in which jurisdictions are directing listed companies to align sustainability disclosures with International Sustainability Standards Board standards, alongside practical challenges such as data collection, scenario analysis and assessing the financial impacts of climate-related risks. Separately, in EU-Asia Pacific Forum panels the SEC discussed cross-border risks linked to crypto-assets and tokenization, highlighting the role of inter-jurisdictional information sharing to improve supervisory and enforcement effectiveness, while Vietnam symposium panels covered pathways to globally consistent crypto and digital asset regulation, including Thailand’s experience with asset tokenization, a digital asset regulatory sandbox and investor-protection-oriented supervision aligned with international standards.
