Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK) published a press release on its work to strengthen financial literacy, financial inclusion and consumer protection for people with disabilities, positioning this group as a priority segment under Indonesia’s National Strategy for Financial Literacy 2021–2025. The update was delivered in the context of OJK’s financial education event for the 2025 International Day of Persons with Disabilities in Jakarta and included the launch of a dedicated financial literacy handbook. The release highlighted OJK’s early-2025 launch of the SETARA guideline on access to financial services for empowered persons with disabilities, intended as a practical framework for financial services institutions (PUJK). It also referenced OJK Regulation No. 22 of 2023 on consumer and public protection in the financial services sector, under which PUJK are responsible for supporting special services for consumers with disabilities, including braille forms for blind consumers, supporting infrastructure such as ramps, priority queues for persons with disabilities and older people, dedicated ATMs, and information media that takes account of consumers with disabilities. OJK Regulation No. 3 of 2023 on strengthening financial literacy and inclusion also requires PUJK to provide facilities and infrastructure for literacy and inclusion for consumers and the public with disabilities. OJK reported running 192 financial education programmes in 2024–2025 with 68,319 participants, alongside 100 GENCARKAN activities with 9,410 participants. OJK’s newly launched handbook was developed with Indonesia’s Ministry of Social Affairs, Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, and the National Disability Commission, and is intended to cover core personal finance topics and fraud risk awareness. OJK indicated the guidance will be made available in disability-friendly formats including braille and audiobooks.
