Poland's Ministry of Finance published an update on the General Inspector of Financial Information (GIIF) representing Poland at the 30th Egmont Group plenary session in Luxembourg on 6–11 July, with Deputy Director Elżbieta Franków-Jaskiewicz chairing the proceedings. The meetings focused on strengthening international cooperation between financial intelligence units (FIUs) in combating money laundering and terrorist financing. The plenary brought together nearly 600 delegates and included a meeting of EU FIU heads (Europe I Regional Group), bilateral consultations with FIUs from Lithuania, Germany, Portugal, Estonia and Moldova, representatives of the United Kingdom FIU, and the European Chief Prosecutor. Participants agreed decisions covering stronger FIU autonomy and operational independence, adequate resourcing for fighting financial crime, and the future of the Egmont Secure Web platform, including the use of innovation and artificial intelligence to support safer and faster information exchange; they also discussed the development and funding model for the Egmont Centre of FIU Excellence and Leadership (ECOFEL). Alongside workshops on public-private partnerships, data analysis and asset recovery, the Egmont Group marked its 30th anniversary by establishing an International Day of FIUs to be observed on 9 June, and admitted four new FIUs, taking total membership to 181.
