Greece's Ministry of National Economy and Finance published remarks by Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis during parliamentary discussion of a draft law reforming the fiscal management framework to transpose Council Directive (EU) 2024/1265, in which he rejected allegations of irregularities around recent government digital projects financed through the Recovery and Resilience Facility. The statement points to multiple layers of national and European sign-offs and controls, describing a 26-stage process that includes pre-contractual review by the Court of Audit. Citing figures from Information Society, the minister said 203 digital projects were tendered, around two-thirds attracted more than one offer, and in about half of the remaining cases bidders formed consortia; he added that the EUR 1.8 billion total was awarded to 102 companies. He also noted that a Competition Commission review referenced in questions was triggered by a January 2024 request from the Ministry of Development’s Secretary General in relation to a specific project. Pierrakakis said he would respond to defamatory claims through court proceedings.
