In a speech to the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry, National Economy and Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis outlined the government’s next phase of business support, centered on tax stability, access to capital and lower structural costs. Planned measures include abolishing the business levy over the coming years and reducing the corporate income tax prepayment by five percentage points annually from 80% to 50%. He also reiterated plans for accelerated depreciation of productive equipment. A new EUR 1.5 billion lending program through the Hellenic Development Bank is expected to mobilize EUR 5 billion exclusively for small and medium-sized enterprises. The ministry will also create a public platform called Consistency to identify public bodies that delay payments and show the length of overdue obligations. On competitiveness, the government is targeting a 30% reduction in energy costs through investment in generation, networks, interconnections and storage. Pierrakakis framed these measures as a continuation of 23 business, investment and competitiveness interventions since 2019, including corporate tax reductions and investment incentives.
