The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo reported that Governor Ahmet Ismaili participated in the Annual Meeting of the European Banking Coordination Forum (Vienna Initiative) in Brussels, using the forum to reiterate the central bank’s European integration priorities, including Kosovo’s strategic pathway toward joining the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA). Discussions at the 29–30 September 2025 meeting, hosted by the European Commission, focused on the Savings and Investments Union and the integration of capital markets in Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe. The central bank highlighted ongoing work on market infrastructure reforms and stated it will advance legislation aimed at expanding access to finance and creating a capital market, alongside reforms to strengthen payment systems, enhance supervisory practices, and improve the efficiency and resilience of Kosovo’s financial ecosystem. On the margins, the Governor held meetings with senior representatives from the European Commission, the European Central Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and regional central bank counterparts.
