The Central Bank of Taiwan published its April 2026 reserve money data, showing that daily average reserve money increased by NT$11.1 billion from the previous month to NT$7,547.0 billion. The rise came despite several contractionary liquidity factors, as expansionary flows more than offset them. Within the total, currency in circulation fell by NT$92.3 billion while reserves deposited with the Bank increased by NT$103.4 billion. Contractionary factors included tax remittances to the Treasury, government borrowings, issuance of government bonds and Treasury bills, and a net increase in NCDs issued by the Bank. These were outweighed by interest payments on government bonds, repayment of government debt, and disbursement of various subsidies and centrally funded tax revenues. The annual growth rate of daily average reserve money rose by 0.68 percentage points to 7.78% from 7.10% in the previous month, while the average annual growth rate for the first four months of 2026 was 6.68%, up from 6.20% in the same period a year earlier. The next reserve money release for May 2026 is scheduled for 16:20 on June 11, 2026.
