The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority published an update on its Eastern Zone engagement with the Tanzania Police to improve road safety outcomes and the effectiveness of insurance use, with a focus on motor vehicle insurance. The discussions took place during the cultural and arts exhibition at Mnazi Mmoja grounds in Dar es Salaam, where TIRA is providing insurance education to visitors and encouraging artists to take out insurance. TIRA and the Ilala police region agreed to strengthen their working relationship on insurance-related activities, particularly tackling crime in motor insurance, building insurance awareness within the police, and sharing information on opportunities in the insurance market, including the potential for police savings and credit cooperatives to undertake insurance agency activities. The authority noted the police as a key stakeholder in enforcement and follow-up work related to motor insurance for cars and motorcycles. TIRA invited the public to visit its stand at the exhibition, which started on 24 April and is expected to conclude on 30 April 2025.
