The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission has launched an initiative to strengthen the Cyprus Stock Exchange (CSE), convening a roundtable with public and private stakeholders to develop proposals aimed at revitalising investor interest and increasing the range of securities and products listed on the market. Ideas discussed included facilitating listings by start-ups, introducing government bonds and bonds issued by semi-governmental organisations or other local authorities, and creating incentives for companies to list such as tax reductions to support liquidity and diversify tradable instruments. Participants also raised proposals on boosting financial literacy and investor education, upgrading technology and infrastructure, deepening cooperation with international markets, and running marketing campaigns and events with international financial organisations to promote the CSE. The proposals submitted at the roundtable will be examined further, with the CSE chair highlighting the need for collaboration among the parties involved to support implementation.
