The Kyrgyz Republic State Service for Regulation and Supervision of Financial Markets held an introductory meeting with representatives of the insurance market to discuss current sector issues and possible updates to insurance regulation. The agenda centered on modernization of the rules for compulsory motor third party liability insurance (OSAGO), including proposals to introduce a Europrotocol mechanism in the Kyrgyz Republic to simplify road accident registration and improve the settlement of insured events. Participants also discussed revising OSAGO tariffs to reflect current market conditions, creating an insurance pool for certain risks, improving reinsurance arrangements, and reviewing approaches to the formation and placement of insurers' investment portfolios. The meeting also covered improvements to the regulator's website to expand and update information on insurance companies, improve access to information for insurance consumers, strengthen information exchange with market participants, and identify areas for further refinement of insurance legislation.
