The Taiwan Financial Supervisory Commission published data showing that domestic banks’ outstanding loans to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) totalled TWD 10,467 billion at end-May 2025, up TWD 2.8 billion from end-April 2025. SME loans represented 64.66% of total enterprise lending and 68.37% of lending to private enterprises, increases of 0.22 and 0.25 percentage points respectively versus end-April. The average non-performing loan (NPL) ratio for SME loans stood at 0.21% in May 2025, down 0.03 percentage points from end-April; the FSC reiterated its encouragement for banks to expand SME lending with appropriate risk controls.

SME loans accounted for 64.66% of total enterprise lending and 68.37% of private enterprise lending, with the average non-performing loan ratio at 0.21%, down 0.03 percentage points.
