Mexico's National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services (CONDUSEF) issued an alert over reported impersonation of AHORA TÚ, MÁS, S.A.P.I. de C.V., SOFOM, E.N.R., with fraudsters using WhatsApp and the website lendrock.com.mx to offer purported car loans in the firm’s name and request upfront payments. CONDUSEF reported that affected users were approached by individuals posing as the institution’s advisers and were asked to make various advance payments in exchange for a promise of a financed vehicle. AHORA TÚ, MÁS stated that it does not offer auto financing products and considers itself a victim of identity theft. The authority urged users to verify that a financial institution is registered and that its details match in SIPRES, avoid deposits or transfers to personal accounts or before signing a contract validated by the institution, and treat any request for money “in advance” to release loans, vehicles, or processing as a red flag.
