The National Bank of Hungary (MNB) announced that it is transferring works from its fine art collection to museums for public display, rather than keeping them in storage or in offices. The move was presented by Governor Mihály Varga as part of a review of activities outside the Bank’s core legal mandate and an effort to rationalise resource use while focusing on the MNB’s primary objectives. Under the plan, the artworks will be accessible in person at one museum in Budapest and 29 museums outside Budapest. The MNB loaned 23 works of art to Karcag and requested the host museum ensure the best possible placement of the pieces; loans have already been made to museums in Budapest, Debrecen and Székesfehérvár.
