The Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures has formally opened its sixth-round mutual evaluation of Hungary, marking the start of the country’s assessment against the Financial Action Task Force standards using MONEYVAL’s evaluation methodology. The launch was accompanied by a high-level exchange involving MONEYVAL Chair Nicola Muccioli, Hungary’s State Secretary for Public Administration within the Ministry of National Economy Anikó Túri, and Government Commissioner for Combatting Money Laundering Ágnes Hornung. A targeted training session in Hungary then briefed public and private-sector stakeholders on FATF standards and the MONEYVAL evaluation approach, attracting more than 130 participants from the General Prosecutor’s Office, the financial intelligence unit, law enforcement, the judiciary, supervisory authorities, tax and customs administrations, self-regulatory bodies, and the private sector.
