The South Korea Ministry of Economy and Finance announced that it held the 15th Korea Green Innovation Days annual event for the Korea Green Growth Trust Fund with the World Bank and Sejong City from 6 to 8 May in Sejong. The event, themed scaling green growth globally based on Korea’s experience, brought together about 560 participants from Korean institutions, the World Bank and developing country governments, with discussions focused on sharing Korean green growth practices and expanding cooperation on project preparation, technical assistance and co-financing. The first two days comprised 18 sessions across eight sectors including agriculture, transport, energy, environment, climate, digital, urban development and water resources. Korean institutions including K-water, Korea Electric Power Corporation and the National Information Society Agency presented cooperation outcomes with World Bank teams, while bilateral meetings covered technical cooperation, project pipeline development and co-financing opportunities. The final plenary included a panel on artificial intelligence and global development for developing countries, a review of KGGTF results and future direction, and case studies such as Honduras’s digital agriculture system. In remarks at the plenary, a Ministry official said KGGTF has influenced cumulative World Bank lending and co-financing of about USD 35.9 billion since its 2012 launch, and that 94 Korean institutions participated in knowledge exchange programmes in 2025, leading to 59 cooperation partnerships. In a separate meeting with World Bank Planet Vice President Guangzhe Chen, the ministry reaffirmed South Korea’s continuing support for green growth cooperation and called for World Bank efforts to help KGGTF deliver stronger development outcomes through private capital mobilisation and expanded cooperation on artificial intelligence transition and green transition.
