The Department of Finance Canada reported that Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne and Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem represented Canada at the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting. Discussions covered the global economic outlook, growth and financial stability, artificial intelligence, digital assets, financial literacy and fraud prevention. Champagne held bilateral meetings with international partners focused on trade, investment and cooperation in critical minerals, energy and agriculture. He also discussed potential partner support for the next phase of the Defence, Security and Resilience Bank initiative. At a separate G7 meeting, finance ministers and central bank governors addressed global economic developments, artificial intelligence and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
