The Bahamas Securities Commission has notified its licensees and registrants of an update to the United Nations Security Council ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaida Sanctions List, following the removal of a listed entry by the relevant Security Council Committee. The notice, issued pursuant to section 3A of the International Obligations (Economic and Ancillary Measures) Act, requires firms to update their sanctions screening records accordingly. The delisting was made on 9 June 2025 by the Security Council Committee established under resolutions 1267 (1999), 1989 (2011) and 2253 (2015) after it concluded consideration of a delisting request. Firms are required to exclude the individual named in the referenced United Nations press release from the list of UN designated entities and individuals that they maintain and are urged to regularly consult UN Security Council sanctions resources to support ongoing compliance and accurate record-keeping.
