China's National Financial Regulatory Administration held a symposium on key proposals from the 2025 National People’s Congress and Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, gathering feedback on measures to promote high-quality development of health insurance, expand coverage, and raise service and protection standards. Participants discussed constraints facing health insurance and proposed optimising the policy environment, standardising the development of city customised commercial medical insurance products, and promoting information sharing between basic medical insurance and commercial medical insurance, including providing insurers with necessary medical insurance and healthcare data. Other priorities raised included accelerating one-stop settlement and supporting high-quality development in pharmaceutical innovation. The Administration’s Life Insurance Department reported on the handling of proposals and its planned supervisory work to strengthen oversight, prevent risks, and support health insurance development, alongside updates from participating agencies. Next, the Administration will consolidate the suggestions, work with relevant departments to study and absorb them, and advance improvements to work mechanisms, regulatory rules, and supervisory measures to enhance regulatory capacity and health insurance service delivery.
