Taiwan's Financial Supervisory Commission released updated figures on domestic banks’ lending to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), showing outstanding SME loans of TWD 10,369 billion at the end of February 2025, up by TWD 6.8 billion from end-January 2025. SME loans accounted for 64.19% of total loans to enterprises and 67.96% of total loans to private enterprises, with both shares increasing by 0.1 percentage points compared with end-January. The average non-performing loan ratio on SME loans stood at 0.23% in February 2025, down 0.03 percentage points from end-January, while the Commission reiterated its encouragement for banks to expand SME lending with risk controls in place.
