The National Bank of Moldova’s Governor, Anca Dragu, opened UN Women Moldova’s high-level event on women’s financial inclusion, framing the agenda as a shift from vision to action through sustained partnerships and calling for more balanced representation of women in decision-making. In her remarks, Dragu noted that while Moldova ranks seventh globally in the World Economic Forum’s 2025 Global Gender Gap Index, gender gaps remain pronounced, particularly in the economic and political spheres. She pointed to the National Bank of Moldova’s initiatives to support women’s leadership, including the “FinanciarELE – community of female leadership” project, and highlighted internal gender-balance metrics, with women representing 64% of staff and holding 53% of managerial positions, figures referenced as placing the central bank among leading European institutions in OMFIF assessments. The roundtable was followed by a design thinking workshop bringing together technical experts from the financial and institutional sectors to develop practical ideas to improve women’s access to financial products and services tailored to their needs.
