Peru's Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and Pension Funds Administrators (SBS) inaugurated the 27th edition of its Extension Program, an initiative designed to identify and train recent university graduates in areas relevant to the stability of the financial, insurance, pensions and cooperatives sectors. The intake includes 27 newly graduated professionals selected through a nationwide process, alongside seven SBS staff members undertaking additional specialised training. The programme runs from 5 January to 1 April and provides intensive instruction in finance, regulation and risk management, with an annually updated curriculum that incorporates real case studies and topics linked to new technologies. Women represent 56% of selected participants and 78% are economists, with the remainder mainly industrial engineers and graduates in accounting, finance and administration, drawn from public and private universities in major cities. Since its creation in 1998, the programme has produced 993 graduates, of whom 444 currently work at the SBS, including in technical, supervisory and leadership roles; the superintendent indicated that the most outstanding participants may have an opportunity to join the authority.
