The Central Bank of Montenegro published an update on talks with the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s office focused on the central bank’s priorities to strengthen financial stability, improve the regulatory framework and modernise the payment system, with cooperation framed around digital transformation and the green economy. Governor Irena Radovic reported that the central bank has fully implemented its pre-accession obligations, with 100 per cent completion of assigned tasks, and highlighted progress in aligning Montenegro’s regulatory and supervisory framework with European Union regulations and standards alongside efforts to strengthen institutional capacity. The meeting also covered work on the green transition and ESG implementation, gender and financial inclusion, financial literacy, and wider digital transformation of the financial system; the UN side confirmed its readiness to continue supporting Montenegro’s development priorities, including reforms linked to European integration and EU alignment.
