The National Bank of Georgia’s First Vice Governor, Ekaterine Mikabadze, took part in a BARTA 2025 panel on corporate reporting, governance and sustainability, focusing on the early practical outcomes of applying the Corporate Governance Code for public securities issuers. She characterised the first year of implementation as largely an adaptation phase, followed by more thoughtful and proactive implementation by issuers in 2024–2025 from a supervisory perspective. Mikabadze linked the Code to improvements in the corporate governance section of annual governance reports, including more structured and detailed disclosures. She also said it has driven issuers to reassess governance frameworks and align with best practices set out in the Code, and where full compliance is not yet possible, to present reasoned alternative or transitional solutions. The seventh Best Annual Report and Transparency Award (BARTA) ceremony identified winners across three categories, with BARTA positioned as a multi-institutional initiative to promote transparency and high-quality reporting among companies in Georgia.
