The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission announced the appointments of Stephen D. Andrews and M. Jordan Minot as deputy general counsel for regulation and litigation, respectively. The moves place Andrews in charge of the Regulatory Branch and Minot in charge of the Litigation, Enforcement, and Adjudication Branch within the General Counsel’s Office, as the agency pursues rulemaking and litigation related to its regulatory authority. Andrews joins from the United States Senate, where he served as general counsel to Senator Josh Hawley, and previously clerked on the Ninth Circuit and the Eastern District of New York after graduating from Yale Law School. Minot joins from the Virginia Attorney General’s Office, where he served as an assistant solicitor general and senior assistant attorney general, and previously clerked on the Seventh Circuit for then-Judge Amy Coney Barrett after graduating from the University of Virginia School of Law.
