The Bank of Greece published provisional data showing the balance of travel services recorded a surplus of EUR 220.9 million in March 2025, slightly lower than a year earlier as travel payments grew faster than travel receipts. Travel receipts increased 5.1% year on year to EUR 473.4 million, while travel payments rose 16.6% to EUR 252.6 million; inbound traveller flows increased 5.4% to 921.5 thousand and average expenditure per trip declined 0.6%. Net travel receipts offset 7.1% of the goods deficit and represented 55.8% of total net receipts from services. For January to March 2025, the travel services surplus fell to EUR 398.4 million from EUR 471.2 million in the same period of 2024. Receipts rose 4.4% to EUR 1,072.7 million, but payments increased 21.3% to EUR 674.3 million; inbound travellers rose 5.4% to 2,459.0 thousand and average expenditure per trip declined 1.1%. In March, receipts from EU27 residents rose 11.1% while receipts from other countries fell 1.4%; arrivals through airports increased 17.0% while road border crossings declined 12.0%.
