The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo hosted Hungary’s new Ambassador to Kosovo, László István Dux, for talks on key developments in Kosovo’s financial sector, including legal and regulatory reforms and the resilience and integrity of the financial system. Governor Ahmet Ismaili outlined steps taken to prepare for an expected application to join the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), while flagging delays caused by the non-publication of financial-sector laws due to constitutional review. The meeting also covered progress on the planned fast payments system “TIPS Clone”, which the central bank expects to improve payment efficiency and financial inclusion, and internal institutional reforms aimed at strengthening organisational capacity and internal governance in line with recommendations from international partners. The parties also reaffirmed cooperation to advance Kosovo’s legal framework in line with European Union standards and support integration into relevant European mechanisms.
