The Insurance State Supervision Service of Georgia said its head, Davit Onoprishvili, attended the 2026 National Association of Insurance Commissioners international insurance forum in Washington at the organiser's invitation and held bilateral meetings with US insurance supervisors. The main discussions covered refinement of supervisory and legislative frameworks, technological innovation and current challenges in the global insurance market. At the forum, participants examined cybersecurity and operational risk, financial literacy, new data processing methods in health insurance and personal data protection, and strategies to reduce losses from natural catastrophes linked to climate change. The annual forum brings together around 300 participants from different countries. During the visit, Onoprishvili held talks with Scott White, President of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and Virginia's insurance supervisor, as well as supervisors from Connecticut, California and Georgia. According to the Service, the engagement is intended to support Georgia's international integration in insurance supervision, the use of US and other international practices to modernise supervisory approaches, and closer alignment of the legislative framework.
