Peru's Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and Pension Funds Administrators (SBS) held an awards ceremony recognising the strongest financial education efforts implemented during World Savings Week 2025, based on an assessment by an independent jury of national and international experts. The SBS described World Savings Week as Peru’s largest financial education campaign, delivered with support from 77 public-sector, private-sector and civil society entities and linked to the OECD’s Global Money Week. The 2025 edition ran from 17 to 23 March under the theme “Be careful who you follow, protect your money”, with a focus on critical judgement and self-care in financial and digital environments as consumers increasingly use online financial services. The week featured more than 1,200 educational activities nationwide, reaching close to 10 million Peruvians; SBS Superintendent Sergio Espinosa also highlighted that 33% of Peruvians live without access to a financial service and called for closing that gap. SBS’s head of Financial Education and Inclusion, Juan Carlos Chong, said preparations have already begun for the campaign’s tenth anniversary next year. Award winners included Caja Ica and Financiera Confianza (integrated proposal), EESTP CERTUS (innovative proposal), Caja Ica (inclusive proposal, most collaborative entity and largest in-person reach), and Banco de la Nación (largest virtual reach).
