The State Bank of Vietnam published an update on the eighth congress of the Vietnam Banks Association for the 2026 to 2031 term, where the association elected a new 15-member council and chose Tran Minh Binh, chairman of VietinBank, as chair. Former Standing Deputy Governor Dao Minh Tu was elected vice chair and secretary general, and the congress also approved the association's operating direction for the new term. The new council includes vice chair roles held by Agribank, Vietcombank and MB, while the three-member inspection committee will be headed by a representative of BIDV. The approved agenda for 2026 to 2031 centers on strengthening the association's role as a bridge between member institutions and state authorities, expanding its policy consultation and legal feedback work, supporting members in resolving operational difficulties, and increasing training and international cooperation. At the congress, Standing Deputy Governor Doan Thai Son broadly endorsed these priorities and called for a more professional organization, stronger use of information technology, earlier identification of legal bottlenecks and continued support for members' lawful interests.
