The Sustainable Banking and Finance Network held a regional luncheon for its Latin America and the Caribbean members during the III Latin American Congress on Sustainable and Inclusive Banking in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The meeting convened representatives from 14 SBFN member institutions alongside other regional financial-sector stakeholders, with 68 participants and a livestream option for remote attendees. Discussions covered new initiatives led by regional members, including the launch of IFC’s Silver Economy Program, the rollout of the 2025 Resilient Banking Survey, and the introduction of the Circular Economy Finance Guidelines. The guidelines are described as the first comprehensive framework on circular economy finance, setting eligibility criteria and quantifying the volume of eligible transactions to help financial institutions and corporates identify, assess, and track financing flows for circular economy projects. Participants also exchanged updates on sustainable finance regulatory developments in the region, including green taxonomies, thematic bond issuance, open finance regulation, and strengthening environmental, social, and governance and gender-related governance standards.
