The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank has published a Legal and Regulatory Review Report prepared to support drafting harmonised data protection and privacy legislation for the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union, and invited stakeholder feedback on the report. The report provides a gap analysis of existing data protection and privacy laws and related sector-specific regulations, identifies barriers to the trusted free flow of personal data, and sets out recommendations to harmonise protections across the ECCU. It also reviews international best practices for applicability in the ECCU context and considers enforcement and institutional arrangements, including potential models for national and regional cooperation. Feedback from policymakers, regulators, businesses, civil society and the public is requested by 15 November 2025.
