The Sustainable Banking and Finance Network (SBFN), in collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), has released a Practitioner’s Guide aimed at helping policymakers and market participants integrate women’s interests into sustainable finance frameworks. The guide compiles lessons from emerging markets and sets out practical approaches for embedding social dimensions into sustainable finance policies, regulations, and tools. It highlights emerging practices such as taxonomy development and bond guidelines, provides an overview of activities across jurisdictions, and flags opportunities and areas needing further attention. Case studies cover SBFN members’ approaches at the National Bank of Georgia, the Capital Market Authority of Morocco, and the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, alongside examples from Brazil, Kenya, Mexico, and Tanzania. The publication was developed under the second Memorandum of Understanding between SBFN and GIZ signed in June 2025, which focuses on supporting emerging markets and developing countries in work on sustainable finance taxonomies, sustainability disclosures, and inclusive sustainable finance.
