The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Office of Investor Education and Advocacy announced an April National Financial Literacy Month outreach effort aimed at highlighting how investing supports both household financial goals and capital formation in the U.S. economy. The campaign will direct investors to free saving and investing tools and educational materials on Investor.gov. During April, SEC regional and headquarters staff will promote OIEA’s “Ten Investment Tips for 2025 Investor Bulletin,” which covers topics including avoiding investment scams, diversification, and being an informed investor, alongside a Financial Literacy Month quiz. Planned outreach includes activities for teachers and high school and college students, webinars and events focused on fraud prevention for older investors, and presentations for military service members that cover building wealth, avoiding scams, and tax-advantaged retirement plans such as the Thrift Savings Plan; the OIEA Director also published a new “Director’s Take” article titled “Ten Building Blocks to Building Wealth.”
