Sweden's Ministry of Finance announced that Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson will travel to Brussels for the Economic and Financial Affairs Council meeting on 5 May, where ministers are expected to approve new rules giving the European Public Prosecutor's Office and the European Anti-Fraud Office access to EU-level value added tax data to strengthen action against cross-border VAT fraud within the European Union. The agenda also includes discussion of the economic and financial consequences of Russia's attack on Ukraine, as well as the economic effects of the war in the Middle East and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. The Council is also expected to discuss the economic consequences of EU legislation and the legislative package on market integration and supervision. Separately, Svantesson is due to meet Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra to discuss, among other matters, tax on snus.
