The National Bank of Georgia published 2024 results for its Dispute Resolution Commission for payment services, reporting that 85% of nearly 90 consumer disputes with payment service providers, including banks, were resolved in consumers’ favour, resulting in GEL 300,000 of reimbursements. Most complaints related to payment transactions on consumers’ accounts that they did not agree with. The Commission operates as an independent, free mechanism for payment service users and is provided for under the Association Agreement between Georgia and the European Union. Consumers can submit complaints covering issues such as unauthorized transactions via payment cards or online and mobile banking, delays in processing, incorrectly executed transactions, and incorrect transaction fee deductions.
