The Central Bank of Luxembourg organised the tenth edition of its workshop on household finances and consumption on 8–9 October 2025, bringing together researchers using microeconomic data, including individual and household survey evidence, to analyse economic and financial decision-making. The event aims to encourage research using household finance data collected by the Central Bank of Luxembourg while facilitating joint projects across institutions, and to provide a platform for researchers from Luxembourg and neighbouring regions to present and discuss work on household finance. The programme attracted nearly 50 participants from administrations, public institutions, universities and national central banks and included five regular sessions, a poster session and two rapid-presentation sessions. A record 28 research papers were presented. In the opening address, Governor Gaston Reinesch highlighted the role of high-quality micro data in capturing heterogeneity across households, firms and banks, and in improving understanding of monetary policy transmission through channels such as interest rates, cash flows and balance sheets. The keynote, delivered by Michael Ehrmann of the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, focused on the importance of central banks’ communication with the public. A further edition of the workshop is planned for 2026.
